Community

Community matters...at Riverside Plaza

Riverside Plaza is proud to sponsor and support the following groups and initiatives:

  • Queanbeyan Hospital Auxiliary
  • Queanbeyan Senior Citizens
  • Queanbeyan Salvation Army
  • Queanbeyan Red Cross
  • George Forbes House
  • Queanbeyan Quilters Association

Riverside Plaza supports these organisations through casual leasing space within the centre which enables them to sell raffle tickets, products such as home made jams and chutneys, gift wrapping or just collecting donations from Riverside customers to raise much needed monies for the great chairty work they provide.

You can find a number of these charities at Riverside Plaza throughout the year.

Earth Hour

Riverside Plaza participated in the Earth Hour campaign where the centre turned off the lights for one hour at 7.30pm on Saturday 31 March as part of a broader effort to reduce global warming. While a Sydney based initiative of conservation group WWF Australia, Riverside Plaza extended its support for the campaign and joined forces with other AMP Capital Shopping Centres Australia wide to participate in the event.

Riverside Plaza supported Earth Hour by turning of all lights within the centre, all automatic doors and travellators. In doing this Riverside Plaza reduced its lighting output and showed that it is easy to help make a difference to climate change.

  • Baby week - Cutest Baby Competition

As part of Baby Week, from Monday 14 August to Sunday 20 August, Riverside Plaza held a custest baby competition.

Each entrant was required to send in a photo of their baby, date of birth and details, along with a gold coin donation. Photos were on display in centre and voted on by the public. A shoppers choice and judges choice winner was awarded from each age category. Categories are: 0-1 yrs, 1-3 yrs, and 3-4 yrs. Winners received over $700 worth of prizes including baby seat, baby rocker, baby machester sets, Ego skin care products, goods packs from Target, photography sessions and much more!

All donations went to SIDS and KIDS ACT.
